Yes, I'm probably the last person (make that girl) on earth that hadn't seen the movie or read the book.
Well, since warm weather graced us today in NY, I headed to the new Tanger outlets in my neighborhood and treated myself to a movie.
As always, I ran late. However, I HAD to get my $5 popcorn and $5 soda making me miss the first few minutes of the movie. No regrets. I will be owning this movie when it comes out on DVD and watch it over and over again. It was such a sweet, funny and charming movie.
My favorite quote: "They said I was a valued customer, now they send me hate mail."
Of course, being in the outlets, I also HAD to check out the stores and see what good deals I could get. A few things made it home with me, which, of course, I didn't need. I am very happy to report that the most expensive thing I bought was $15.
My income has slowed down quite a bit. Yes, the economy has put a damper on everyone's shopping. However, it leads me to wonder about something. What makes a real life shopaholic? Is it that you have to spend - no matter what - to feel better. To get that jolt of something. Even if it's spending $3 on a cup of coffee or $5 on a t-shirt at Old Navy? Or, do you have to spend hundreds upon hundreds on a designer piece to boost your self- confidence? Is it bad to want to shop?
Is it possible to justify that $3.00 spent and say that every little bit helps the economy? What do you think?
I believe that yes, a little bit can go a long way. My few dollars spent in someone else's etsy shop, can lift their spirits, encourage them to keep going and maybe help them pay a bill or two. It can allow them to shop in someone else's little shop, and so on and so on. Just keep it under control AND DON'T GET IN DEBT!!!
Well, I'm off to browse etsy. Those $5 in my paypal account are burning a hole in my computer :)
Well,
When I started this blog I VOWED to not neglected and go more than a day or two without posting something. Ahhhh!
I do have some fairly good excuses though: Listing and promoting on Etsy and Justbeads. Things have been a little slow lately. However I am not giving up!
Since my last update I have joined the Creative Glass Guild of Etsy (CGGE) and have joined in the last two meetings as well as participated in their "Spring into Summer" Sale which ended yesterday. I worked really hard in posting and keeping the thread and sale buzz alive. Not only for me but for the group. I got a couple of good sales from new customers. I went from having only sold two items to having sold 13!
It's really energizing when there is activity in your shop. Not only sales but views. I used to feel so lonely and un-loved when I would check to see who hearted me and only two people had done so. Now...22 and growing!
I have to say that I had my doubts about Etsy but not any more. The atmosphere and community is terrific! It really motivates me to create and list items. I also feel great when I purchase from other Etsy-ers. You can really get some great bargains and unique items.
I am now a regular in their forum and chat rooms :)
I came across this Fantastic Etsy Youtube commercial
