Went car shopping today. Looking at the Hyundai Elantra SE. I'm very, very excited. I'm 36 years old and this would be my first new car!
So, if I want a new car, I have to make extra $ so I've been listing more on ebay...
Here's tonight's addition: Over 6 feet of handmade lampwork beads - odds and ends, test beads, and fun beads!
Check them out: ORPHANS by CALUMEY

Well, after a sucky start to my day yesterday, I managed to be quite productive. I've been putting off photographing a new bead set for quite some time. Mainly because they are all clear glass and qutie difficult to get a picture that will do them justice.
Now listed on Ebay...Ice Sculpture by Calumey :) <--- Click to see the auction!
What do you think? Do the pictures do them justice?

I've been working out and making beads. I thought when you work out you get energized. What gives?
Well I'm off to watch Wall-E and bundle up under the blankets. Just think of it as practice for the end of the week when that artic cold blast will hit us here in NY!
Speaking of cold, ok COOL...Minesweeper on ETSY

It seems that every off day I've had the last couple of weeks has been a rainy, blah day. The trend doesn't seem to change in the coming week.
I've been busy creating new beads and adding them to my Etsy Shop CALUMEYDESIGNS
I'm very proud of how much my photography has improved over the years. Wow! I can't believe that I can say years. It's been three years since the glass bug bit me.
With past crafts, I was quick to move on and not really miss it. With glass, I cannot imagine my life without it. I really can't see me getting rid of all the glass and tools and saying "I don't feel like doing this again."
While some days it's discouraging and frustrating to not get a perfect bead or have the release crack on your 99% done bead, or having an extremely shocky glass explode all over the place, in 20 years, I will still be melting glass and showing off my pretty, shiny beads...
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoy creating them. Thanks for visiting!

Last night, we got home from our last summer vacation trip to upstate NY. It was so sad to leave such a beautiful place. We're on the great Sacandaga Lake in Mayfield, NY.
On my first night up there, we got to take a stroll through the "Bannertown Fair" where the mission was to get some yummy funnel cake and fried dough. As I ordered, I was presented with the question "Would you like melted butter on your fried dough?" It took all I had in me to not say "DUH! OF COURSE I WANT MELTED BUTTER!!!"
Another memorable moment was our visit to Saratoga Race Track. I really thought I would do fantastic this year but alas, I'm still broke :)
Speaking of tight budgets, if you'd like a deal of a deal on the remaining beads in my ETSY SHOP, just complete your checkout and in the "NOTES TO SELLER" section, just write BLOG to get 25% OFF EVERYTHING YOU PURCHASE!
I want to clear out my shop so I can list my new beads that are waiting to be showcased.

Yup, my blog is on my to do list of on-going activities, chores and duties that SHOULD happen on a regular basis. Pardon me while I adjust my chair....
Just needed to be at a height where I wouldn't lose circulation to my hands as I type on my semi-new computer desk. It's the one that was originally assembled and housed in the basement then moved to the second floor during my first studio phase. Then on Sunday, I decided to rearrange my basement studio again when I decided I needed a new desk for my computer and 22" monitor. You see, before this, I was literally a foot a way (well, not MY foot away) from the monitor and found myself leaning into it until I was about 4 inches away....Baaaad for my eyes.
Ok. I am stopping myself before I just simply ramble. I came on here to night with the intent to just say: "Just checking in and I'll be back tomorrow"
As you can see, that didn't happen. I made a pit stop at Flaming Hot, a blog for lampworkers. The proposed question was What is your staple glass object. As I pondered the quesiton, I realized that my staples have not been very daring or earth-shattering artistic. I stepped back to see what I find myself creating over and over again. Something that I truly enjoyed making. The defining moment in this quest would have to be the part about "enjoy making" over and over.
I would most definately have to say my twist beads. I began working this design quite by accident. I've done it many a time in one color. Now, I've ventured into other, more livelier colors. I LOVE making these beads. I have been a frit hoarder for a while now and I have endless color combinations to work up. I am quite proud of these fun, simplistic, yet funky beads
After getting my act together today, I had hoped to just relax for a few moments before heading out into some wicked wind and cold. I'd give anything to stay home and bundle up on the couch while catching up on my recorded tv.
However, duty calls and must go out to celebrate our friend's retirement after 34 years on the police force. I'm hoping that the snow fluries they're calling for will hold out until after we get home. I know I shouldn't complain as I know anywhere north of us is being spanked pretty badly with snow and ice.
I have managed to make beads lately but not caught up on picture taking.
Oh, on more fun news: I am now a proud member of BHV the Bead Hive on Etsy! It's already been so much fun and can't wait to add more to my Etsy shop to make my fellow Bead Hivers proud.
Until later, stay warm!
Here's one of my beads to help you dream and distract you from the weather:

Long time no write.
Long time no list.
Long time no beadmaking marathons.
Long time no yummy New Green Bo in Chinatown (NYC).
Long time no chat with Marella.
Long time no Chocolate.
Long time no Polymer Clay Play.
Long time no Buffalo Wings & Cheeseburger.
Long time no walk around the neighborhood.
Long time no visit with my family.
Phew! I've been missing out on some really good stuff. Time to get back on the horse and live it up!!!!
I was inpsired to catch up tonight because I had the super strong urge to share this new discovery with the world: MySpace.com is ADDICTIVE!!! It's a never ending tangled web of discoveries that makes me never want to leave. I initially resisted creating a myspace page. Once I did, I didn't do anything to it for a long time. Then, when I became more active on Etsy, I figured it might be a good place to network and get my shop noticed. One friend addition led to another and then another and so on that now, whenever I get an emal alerting me that someone wants to be my friend, I immediately go on and update and look at my new friend's page and their friends and I log off with 5 new friends I never would have found if this person hadn't seeked me out.
Such was the case with this instant favorite little turtle pick-me-up:
Ralph Wellington - The Happiest Turtle In The WORLD!
Be sure to let the page load as it's chuck full of pictures and video. He even has his own theme song! I also found another favorite picture of one of his canine friends:

After a busy and sticky and hot day, it was the perfect way to crack a smile.
